Good mental health care begins with listening to the patient. Expect thorough 60 minute diagnostic evaluations and comprehensive follow ups. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I think of myself as a passionate nurse, care-giver, and patient advocate first, and a prescriber second. I have engaged in a considerable amount of additional training and supervision after completing my specialty in psychiatric nurse practice. For years I have worked along side Dr. Akash Kumar MD and we are both passionate about staying on the cutting edge of psychiatric medicine.
Having worked in maximum security prison, I’ve treated the most difficult cases. I have worked with patients facing end-of-life issues, severe physical, mental, and sexual trauma and abuse, as well as severe cases of anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood swings, psychosis, and anger management.
Does NP Phillips accept your insurance?
NP Phillips is “in network” and thus a “preferred provider” with Blue Care Network and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO including Anthem BCBS PPO, most out-of-state BCBS PPO, and Blue Care Network. He does NOT accept Blue Cross Complete, General Motors BCBS (where subscriber ID starts with GM), or “EPO” BCBS PPO insurance. NP Phillips is also in-network with Priority Health.
Please note that Beacon health often looks like BCBS PPO, and that is an insurance that NP Phillips does not accept. He also does not accept BCBS Medicare plans. It’s best not to assume your Blue Cross Blue Shield will be covered; email a picture of your insurance card front/back to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us verify your insurance before you make an appointment to ensure you are covered.
For many insurances, out-of-network benefits will cover the majority of fees, but patients will be paying the full cost of the appointment to be later reimbursed by their insurance company 2 to 4 weeks after their appointment, based on their out of network benefits. He can electronically bill, as an out-of-network provider for Magellan.
