Online appointments (and a bit about Covid)

VIDEO APPOINTMENTS
Teletherapy may not be appropriate for all cases and sometimes insurance may not cover it. We can look up your benefits electronically, but we find that if a patient calls their insurance, they will get even more up-to-date information and almost always will find they are covered for online appointments. Even if not officially covered, the general consensus among professional billers is that given Medicare and Medicaid have enabled video benefits for ALL patients, during the pandemic, other insurances will follow suit. Look at your insurance below for more details.

Just give us a call at 734 707 1052 at least 24 hours before the appointment and we can change the appointment type to video. The appointment type is not changed until you receive a confirmation email for an online appointment type.

VIDEO WITH CASH
We can do video for the same price as an in office appointment.

VIDEO WITH AETNA/HAP/UHC/CIGNA
These will MOST LIKELY be covered (utilizing out of network benefits), so patients SHOULD be reimbursed by their insurance, but please call your insurance to make sure. Given we are out-of-network with these insurances, most patients are working up a deductible they will never reach, and so even if not covered, there should be no financial impact.

VIDEO WITH BCN PREMIER CARE (Often UM affiliated)
Video appointments are covered!

VIDEO WITH BCBS PPO and NON PREMIER CARE BLUECARE NETWORK
Many clinics and billers are operating on the assumption that all BCBS/BCN plans will reimburse for this. Per BCBS:

“Generally, Blue Cross PPO and BCN HMO members have telehealth as a routine benefit. However, some groups choose to opt out of the telehealth benefit as a whole.”

“Telehealth for behavioral health providers”

However, we are only able to electronically verify (through BCBS’s electronic benefits checking system) that about 2/3rds of patients have had online benefits enabled through April 30th for Covid. Many who appear to not be covered, find they are covered if they call the number on the back of their insurance card directly. If your BCBS/BCN plan does not end up covering the video session — because these are insurances we are in-network with — we will decrease the cost of the appointment by 50% of our usual price.

So that would be 50% of:
$165 for psychotherapy with masters level clinicians
$155 for 20 minute appointment
$120 for a 15 minute appointment

OTHER COVID POLICIES
If you are currently feeling sick, or have traveled internationally within the last 2 weeks, please give us a call ahead of your appointment and we can cancel it free of charge. At our clinic, we are asking patients to NOT open or close doors. Staff will do that for you! Simply knock on the door once to let your clinician know you are here. Knock twice if it’s urgent.

Don’t forget to wear a mask for your in-person appointments! We have wipes available in the kitchen. All employees/contractors are required to wipe down their work area and patient chairs at the start and end of each shift and wash their hands after wiping. Masks are required when coming in-office by staff and patients.

Thank you!
