Dr. Akash Kumar, MD, ABPN

Dr. Kumar’s schedule has been full (both for psychotherapy and medication cases). His clinical approach is shared by his colleagues at Ann Arbor Psych.

Dr. Kumar has lectured and spoken at the University of Michigan, forensic center, Conestoga High School, and across the prison system. He has particular interests in ADHD, anxiety, depression, personality, and psychopathy (having led a mental health team in maximum security prison for years). Throughout his career he has continued to expand his clinical repertoire by working in many different settings including: volunteering at a free clinic providing care to the homeless, and in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. He’s worked deeply with perpetrators- and victims- of physical and sexual abuse. Separately, he has run technology companies as well.

When needed, he will go beyond the usual 20 medications and utilize psychotherapy, labs to assess nutritional status, genetic testing, medical workups, neurological exams, and lifestyle modifications to help patients achieve their stated goals.

Roopa Kline, PA-C

Roopa Kline, PA-C, is an experienced provider specializing in ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. With a strong background in primary care, she recognizes the medical factors contributing to psychiatric symptoms. She takes an evidence-based approach, integrating the latest medical research with compassionate, patient-centered care. A strong listener, Roopa fosters a nonjudgmental space, empowering patients through empathy, collaboration, and comprehensive care to help them achieve their health goals.

Angela Braun, PA-C

Angela Braun, PA-C has been working with patients dealing with psychiatric issues, both crisis and chronic, for many years and employs standard research based diagnostic and treatment modalities. Her training with Dr. Akash Kumar has been on a thorough mind-body approach to understand cognitive and emotional difficulties.

Brian Phillips, NP

Adults 18+

Brian Phillips, NP employs evidenced-based approach to medication selection, and integrates the latest scientific research into prescribing, including testing for nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, as well acquiring pharmaco-genomic testing. He has worked with patients facing end-of-life issues, severe physical, mental, and sexual trauma, OCD and abuse, as well as severe cases of ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood swings, psychosis, and anger management.

Anthonia Umelogu, NP

Ages 10+

Anthonia Umelogu, NP is focused on looking beyond symptoms and assessing underlying etiological processes which may contribute to symptoms. While diagnostic categories can be useful, patients never fit perfectly into a box. She will utilize pharmacogenetic testing, assess for nutritional status, consider psychotherapeutic factors, and lifestyle modification when necessary. Her clinical approach is informed by acute care, long term care, and forensic psychiatry.

Bruce Burkeen, PA-C

Bruce Burkeen obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Wayne State University. He worked 10 years in Psychiatry while he pursued his medical degree. He has been a Physician Associate for more than two decades. He specializes in Depression, Anxiety, ADD/ADHD and PTSD.

Austin Powell, PA-C

Adults 18+

Austin Powell engages in thoughtful, compassionate, and patient-centered care. He believes in a multimodal approach to mental health care including prescribing medications, diet/lifestyle modifications, nutritional/metabolic testing, and genetic testing. He strives to meet the mental health goals of any patient regardless of race, religion, or gender identity, and has a special interest in LGBTQ+ issues.

Erin Egan, LMSW

As an LMSW and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a specialty in school social work, Erin Egan, LMSW can address a broad spectrum of reasons for seeking therapy in both teenagers and adults. She has extensive experience helping clients facing end of life issues, substance abuse issues, relationship conflicts, difficulties with life transitions such as job loss and retirement, and school-related issues including bullying.

Sarah J. Kruger, LCSW

Sarah Kruger, LCSW utilizes a Client-Centered approach that integrates several evidence-based therapies including; CBT, DBT, Family Systems Theory, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She has experience treating adjustment issues, anger management, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, behavioral problems, bipolar disorders, crisis intervention, depression, divorce & co-parenting problems, domestic violence, grief & loss, parenting challenges, relational problems, substance abuse recovery & relapse prevention, and stress management.

Dr. Aaron Sedlar

Adults 18+

Aaron Sedlar, PhD, has experience with a wide range of clients of diverse backgrounds and presenting problems. Dr. Sedlar primarily works with individuals with anxiety, attentional problems, and depression; however, he is also skilled in helping clients with OCD, trauma, insomnia, life stressors, and other difficulties. He uses techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy.

Pamela Aalto, LMSW

Adults 18+

Pamela Aalto, LMSW obtained her Master of Social Work-Clinical tract, from Michigan State University. She has been serving persons suffering with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or emotional impairments for over 25 years. Her specialties include mood disorders: depression, bipolar disorders, and suicidal ideation; anxiety: post-traumatic stress disorder; obsessive compulsive disorders; personality disorders: borderline personality disorders; development disorders: including ADHD/ADD, grief, family, and relationship issues; substance use disorders, while practicing the ‘Stage of Change Approach’.

She believes it is important “to work together to drive your own bus to happiness” by learning how to manage people places, and activities.

Benjamin Hadden, LMSW

Adults 18+

Benjamin Hadden is trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which can quickly reprocess trauma and anxiety responses and can install positive beliefs in place of negative ones. He believes that the patient is the expert on themselves and their experiences. He works to use a holistic approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help patients better identify areas they seek to improve and progress through treatment in a way that is authentic to their identities and values. He has a clinical concentration in Mental Health, and is currently practicing under a License (for Social Workers) through the state of Michigan.

Kristen Daniels, LMSW

Kristen Daniels is trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which can quickly reprocess trauma and anxiety responses and can install positive beliefs in place of negative ones. She is a strength based clinical social worker dedicated to serving adults. Previously she worked in hospice and with seniors in intensive outpatient treatment. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, leading her to be a great advocate and listener.

Her areas of specialty include grief and loss, dealing with a chronic or terminal illness, life transitions related to aging, depression, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder, EMDR, and ADHD coaching.

Mary Jameson, LMSW

Adults and adolescents 12+

Mary Jameson, LMSW, has over 15 years experience in the mental and behavioral health fields, working with adolescents and adults. She specializes in a person centered approach through the use of Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapies along with Motivational Interviewing.

Rachel Thompson, LLMSW

Adults and adolescents 15+

Working in diverse populations most specific to trauma, anger management, cognitive behavioral issues, abuse and acute mental health, Rachel is willing to help others learn to understand how to cope with their mental health and their needs. She is passionate about helping to work with populations to teach specific skills for understanding trauma, abuse, PTSD, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, and those who have been part of the criminal justice system, specifically CSC. She is trained in EMDR, DBT, CBT and has ADHD certification.
